Udupi: Two undertrials escape from Hiriadka jail

Udupi, Jan 24: In a breach of security, two undertrials have escaped from Hiriadka jail.

Ashok alias Babru and Kumar Gosavi, both accused in a theft case, escaped from the prison on Saturday January 23, sources said. The incident was confirmed by official sources only on Sunday January 24 evening.

Babru and Kumar, both from Hassan, had been arrested by the Hiriadka police on June 9, 2015 in connection to theft of gold ornaments in Hassan. The police had taken into custody three persons, who were found to be moving suspiciously near Hiriadka bus stand. During interrogation, they had revealed that they, along with three others, had committed a theft in Hassan. The other three were arrested in Udupi the next day. Altogether, the police arrested six persons and recovered stolen gold worth Rs 2.05 lac from them.

Since then Babru, Kumar and the other accused had been lodged in

Hiriadka jail. The circumstances and manner in which they escaped is yet to be revealed.

It is learnt that the police have launched an intense search operation for the undertrials and are also combing the forests.

    Good and I liked your comment Rita Germany.Even I wanted to pass the comments in the same manner how you have commented.But I saw your comment in the column and stopped there itself.Yes,indeed,what you have stated is 100% true.Authorities of the jail should be lodged in place of the escaped under trials instead of searching for them and wasting their precious time and money.Good and tight security in Hiriadka Jail.That is why they escaped.They might have bribed the jail authorities and escaped.This type of adventures happen only in Karnataka.Jai Ho Karnataka.
