Kundapur: One dead as bus smashes into Omni

Kundapur, Jan 25: A young man died and a few others sustained injuries in a ghastly accident between an Omni and a bus near Mullikatte junction here on Monday January 25.

The deceased has been identified as Mamith Poojary.

Five persons including Mamith were travelling by Omni from Kundapur to Maravante when a bus moving from Trasi towards Kundapur rammed into their vehicle.

Mamith who was seriously injured was rushed to Manipal hospital but breathed his last on the way.

Four others who were in the Omni escaped with minor injuries.

The impact was such that the Omni was completely smashed.

Gangolli police have registered a case.

    It looks like overspeeding is the cause of this accident. There must be good regiulations on speed in sensitive areas prone for accidents. Police must check this Otherwise many innocent lives will be lost, Feeling depressed and sad at this ghastly accident.Not a day sadly passes without the news of a accident now in Mangalore Udupi and Kundapura area

    A very sad incident. RIP Mamith Poojary. I wish a speedy recovery of those injured in this deadly accident. The Omni must have been hit hard b the bus looking at the picture.
