Mangaluru, Jan 26: A call claiming that there was a bomb planted in the city sent police into a tizzy on Tuesday January 26.

It is learnt that the call was made to the police control room from a shop at Kankanady market. The caller claimed that a bomb had been placed in a crowded market in the city.

The police swung into action and along with bomb detection squads and canine squads, scanned the Central Market and all the markets in the city, and also the malls. However, no explosive was found. The call was traced to a shop at Kankanady market.

It was learnt that a boy of 17 years, who works at Kankanady market, entered one of the shops and made the hoax call to the police control room from there.

The owner of the shop said that when he was somewhere inside, the boy used his phone to make the call, and then left. He further said that he heard the boy speak on the phone, and later found that the receiver was not placed properly.

The youngster has been detained for questioning, sources said.

Bekkige Aata, Ilige Pranasankata ! Police have done a good job and detected the culprit. He is 17 years of age. Should be punished severely so that he should not repeat such attitudes in future days. If he is let off, definitely he will become a big criminal.

Person who wants to blast bomb will not call police control room or Air Traffic control room. He will call only after the blast..Two days back all passengers of jet airways(Delhi-Kathmandu) were asked to get down from the plane..after 2 hours intensive search,it was reported that it was a hoax bomb call..These type of incidents happened many times..But any way police can't ignore it..sometimes message might be from informer..Police must act whether it is hoax call or OX call..
