Daijiworld Media Network-Udupi (RJP)

Udupi, Jan 27: Police have arrested a woman for hiding the corpse of her husband who allegedly committed suicide. The woman took the help of her paramour for this act.

Karibasayya (50) from Bagalkote is the person deceased. His wife Renuka (45) and her lover Sharanappa (30) are the persons arrested.

As per details of the case, Karibasayya was a coolie worker who lived in a rented house near Karavali bye pass road here. On Monday, there was a quarrel between Karibasayya and Renuka on the matter of her extra marital affair with Sharanappa. Karibasayya threatened her that he would die and in a fit of rage hanged himself.

When Renuka touched his body, she discovered that her husband had already died. She was terrified and left the body of her dead husband at home as it is and went to her relative's house near DC office and stayed there as if nothing happened. Sharanappa too was with her then.

At midnight they went together to take the corpse and put it in a sleeping position off the highway at Karavali bye pass road. They even kept sachets of liquor near the body to create an impression that Karibasayya died because of excessive drinking.

Post mortem was done on the body and it was sent to the native place of the deceased for final rites. Meanwhile, a young girl had seen the couple quarrelling on Monday. She informed the police about it during investigation. When Vishu Shetty, a social worker came to see the body after some people told him about suspicion in the death, he saw some marks on the body. Brother of the deceased Kumar also lodged a complaint at the Udupi city police station suspecting unnatural death.

When the police interrogated Renuka thoroughly, they unearthed the truth. She admitted that she had a quarrel with her husband, saw him hanging and with the help of lover she hid the dead body.

Renuka's has three children with the eldest daughter married and the next daughter being engaged. Her son the youngest of all, studies in school.

Renuka and Sharanappa were produced in court on Tuesday night and have been granted judicial custody.

    Madam,
My question rather need for clarification is on illicit sexual relation or extra marital affair.
There is no excuse or any reason to justify the same on labor class and their living conditions. Even sophisticated educated ones do involve in such immoral activities. (When Husband is out of sight)
Whom shall we blame? Husband, wife or biological weakness/needs.
Wrong is wrong and cannot be justified on circumstantial grounds.

What you have reasoned is somewhat unrealistic.
Illegitimate sexual relation is immoral and breach of trust.
There are incidents where husband is abroad to earn lively-hood and the family is back in India and illicit relation does occur. Any explanation for that?

    Jesse & Flavian,

Please do not compare a cooly's life and that of a man who works in the Gulf because the two become extreme polarizing points.

Flavian, you may think the family of the men working in the Gulf is a best example but you should also find out about a man retired from his job in Gulf who returns to find out that the wife has all what he sent in her name as well as the children in her side. He then understands that he was only a money printing machine because once retired, the wife as well as the children make Grrr... at the now sick/lachaar man any time he makes a fuss about something.

Well, the sacrifices and faithfulness of both of them are praiseworthy but the life at the end is not very rewarding. At the same time the children lose attachment with the father who came as Santa, once every one/two years.

However, the cooly worker may have been with the family all the time but the days they spent are always short of a mouthful. So is their sexual life owing to his bad habits, constant coughing and surrender to tobacco/alcohol related diseases. Lets rather be sympathizing towards those who are not as fortunate as the rest and hope that all prosper in their life and the next generation is more happier than the present.

they are only coolie workers. and the postmortem usually takes place in ministry hospitals either in wenlock or ajjarkaad.by looking at their profession postmortem doctor who conducts postmortem will never go deep.bcoz no one is there in behind of poor coolie workers so these doctors only time passing and give the report carelessly. i know it.If it is the case of a rich man then the scene will be different. they check thoroughly.if need be they bring forensic department people too.god only save our poor people

ifthikar a small clarification!! this is not her mistake for falling in love with 30 year young man.. I hope u understand better than me. A married woman will never never run behind any other man if she is looked after well!!!she has got her own feelings.. she got married for what? if any man doesn't fulfill her wishes she will definitely look for pleasure from outside.because it is also a human flesh which is thirsty some time.I saw these coolie workers full day working like buffellows and evening come home with full boose and fall down there. then how can he satisfy his wife?

Surprising, why didn't the postmortem team unable find out the real fact of death? Is it done only for namesake and to close the file? So whom to believe? If the young girl hasn’t informed the police, the culprit would have been free to enjoy with extra marital affair

How can the postmortem show that the body was hidden, it will only reveal the suicide, because he was not murdered.

Vidisha, Mumbai, yes u r right, postmortem will not reveal, the body was hidden. The death circumstances created to impress the death were caused by excessive drink. But real cause of death was by suicide (????) by hanging. There shall be mark in the neck. So why didn’t postmortem team inform police real cause of death
