Minister boasts he got cop Anupama transferred for putting call on hold

Bengaluru, Jan 27 (PTI): In an embarrassment to the Congress government in Karnataka, a minister has boasted about his role in the abrupt transfer of a senior woman police official for putting his call on hold on her mobile phone.

A video footage showing Labour Minister P T Parameshwara Naik making a boastful claim for the shunting out of Deputy Superintendent of Police of Kudligi sub-division in Ballari district Anupama Shenoy has gone viral.

The claim by Naik, the district minister in charge, to party workers in Hadagali assembly constituency, has added more embarrassment as it comes only a few days after he rejected any role in the transfer as "far from the truth."

The Minister had then claimed that the officer has been transferred for administrative reasons.

"You are important for me, not officers, I have never played politics on officials. For 42 seconds, DySP spoke to me, it is 42 seconds not minutes," Naik is seen telling a group of party workers in the video.

"When I called her again, she did not receive, so I have got her transferred, this is true. Why do we want officials who don't take district Minister's phone?" he said.

Shenoy had reportedly received a call from a number which said the Minister would speak to her.

At the same time, she also received a call from the Superintendent of Police, Ballari and she allegedly put the Minister's call on hold and spoke to the SP.

Angered by this, Nailk reportedly took her to task and also complained to her higher-ups.
Meanwhile, Home Minister and State Congress Chief G Parameshwara has said that the DySP has not been transferred.

"I want to clarify to you she has not been transferred, she has been sent on OOD (On Official Duty) by concerned head of the department, we also won't know about it. It happens naturally in administrative and official setup," he said.

The minister drew flak from BJP, with its state unit President Prahlad Joshi, alleging that the morale of the state police had considerably gone down due to the action of politicians like Naik.

What is Shame ! Our Administration and System is so corrupt, looking at the incident and transfer of Police Official by Home Ministry says a lot. This need to stop. This is unlawful activities at highest level. We do not have a set of Rules and guidelines. Home Ministry officials need to go out of the country and learn from other countries how they function. When will this happen ? Whether it will ever happen, I don't foresee. The so called minister must be made to resign and apologise. We need honest officials at all levels.

Action should also be taken against the senior police officials who implemented minister's orders. There should be a procedure for transfers etc.
On another note, the number of comments when a woman Police official was asked to "get lost" by a Haryana Minister was much more than 24 comments so far in DW!!!

minister in charge for that district, if any officer posted under him should respect him, because minister is the one answerable to the public if any death happened in that district. according to him murder case filed as suicide case by same above mentioned officer. even media will ask same punishment from the government if any officer didn't reply for them regarding any issue.if she didn't respect minister then how she respect ordinary citizens.

These arrogant ministers order their PAs to connect and tell the receiver at the other end to ‘hold on’ till that ‘busiest man on earth’ is ready to talk, as if the receiver is jobless or is his personal servant. Somebody has to put an end to such type of egoistic culture. Dy SP Anupama Shenoy’s daring act is a lesson to ministers of Parameshwara Naik’s category.

    Rita,

In India if a person does not get any job...only option for him/her is to join politics...and increase their bank balance and paunch...

Once they are elected to any position...they think they are master's of people who elected them...any they could do pretty much what they want...

This is a classic example of it...

Minister is boasting at the cost of others. Police Officers term is till she or he attains the age of 60. But this bloody so called Ministers come to power only for few years. May be for 5 years term orn less than that. Next time if he behaves like that he will be thrown out from power.Voters should teach him a lesson.

Agree with you this ministers term may be 5 years. After 5 years another rouge would become a minister and a police officer has to suffer from the humilation of these ministers till their retirement. Until and unless these ministers have a ego problem there is no solution for this.Officers will have to bow to their dictat. Atleast if the police transfers should be done by the courts, there may be some respite.
