Mangaluru, Jan 28: A car that was reportedly speeding hit an electric pole in a late night accident near Pio Mall, Jail Road, here on Wednesday January 27.
Eyewitnesses said that the car was moving at a high speed because of which the driver lost control and hit the electric pole.
The impact was such that the electric pole broke into two and the overhead wires fell on the car, said eyewitnesses, adding that there was a loud thud and blast of dust. Passersby and people in the neighbourhood rushed for cover, they said.
The identity of the driver is not known and he is said to have escaped from the spot.
Police arrived at the scene and registered a case.
