Bantwal, Jan 28: A person tried to sexually harass a minor girl when she was alone at her home, and posed life threat to her. The incident occurred at Punacha village near Vittal on Wednesday January 27.

A 16-year-old girl from Punacha village, who is a PU student, was alone at her home on Wednesday. Noticing this, a man named Vighnesh entered the girl's house illegally, threatened her and made an attempt to intimidate her into succumb to his sexual advances, it is said.

Reportedly, Vighnesh had come into contact with this girl when a telephonic call made by him by mistake reached the girl. Thereafter, he made it a habit to make her calls regularly, it is gathered.

Vighnesh somehow found out the whereabouts of the girl. On January 26, he arrived at her home when no was around, pushed and shoved her, and then tried to commit sexual atrocity. He also threatened to kill her if she revealed about his behaviour to others before leaving, it is reported.

A case under laws relating to atrocities on people belonging to scheduled castes and tribes was registered in Vittal police station. The police personnel of the station have formed a team to nab the culprit, who reportedly has gone underground.
