Bantwal, Jan 28: Death came stalking for a young man from Manila village near Vittal in the taluk on the night of Tuesday January 26 in the form of a venomous snake. Gopal Nayak (35), son of Narayana Nayak from Kakwe in Manila village lost his life in this incident.

When Nayak was working in the agricultural fields near his home on Tuesday evening, a snake suddenly bit him. It either did not come to his notice or he did not give enough importance to this incident. As there was no one at home at the time, he returned home and lied down.

After sometime, his body began to show ill-affects of the snakebite, and he fell critically ill. The family members, who had come back home by then, summoned 108 ambulance. But, before the ambulance reached the spot, Nayak had breathed his last.

Vittal police visited the spot thereafter, and registered a case of unnatural death.
