ZP/TP elections: 3,07,402 voters in Mangaluru taluk

Mangaluru, Jan 28: "The last date to file the nominations for the upcoming Zila Panchayat (ZP) and Taluk Panchayat (TP) elections to be held on February 20 in the taluk is February 8," stated Yogish H R the chief election officer of the taluk for the ZP elections.


Addressing the media persons at the Mini Vidhana Soudha premises he said, "The election code of conduct in the taluk will apply from February 1 and the candidates have the opportunity to file their nominations for the 39 TP seats and 10 ZP seats by February 8. On February 9, the nominations will be scrutinized while February 11 will be the last date to withdraw the nominations. February 23 will be the day for re-elections while February 24 will the day of counting. The mustering, de-mustering and counting will be done at Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Higher Primary School, Bondel."

"There are about 3,07,402 voters in the taluk and people can still enrol their names in the electoral list till January 30. There are 39 sector officers appointed along with three flying squads in the taluk."

"Area commissioner of MCC, M K Prameela is the nodal officer for the taluk while director of KEONICS, Basavaraju H will be the observer for the taluk for the 342 polling booths in the taluk. IAS officer SP Bommanahalli will be the observer for the district who will be present from February 16," he said.

Elections for the president of district Kannada Sahitya Parishad
Yogish H R later added that January 25 was the last date to file the nominations for the post of president of district Kannada Sahitya Parishad and the nominations of all the three candidates who have filed the nominations are accepted. They are Deva Prasad, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and Mohan Rao. February 1 is the last date for withdrawing the nominations while elections will be held on February 28. Polling will be held in 8 polling booths with 3326 voters in the district."

Area commissioner of MCC M K Prameela, information officer Khader Shah, special tahsildar of Moodbidri Mohammed Isaaq were present.
