Mangaluru, Jan 29: Sri Samyamindrateertha Swamiji, who was under the tutelage of Sri Sudhindrateertha Swamiji, spiritual head of Kashi Math of GSB community since 2002 when he was adopted as disciple by the Swamiji to succeed the former as the head of the Math, was enthroned as the new head of Kashi Math at an impressive programme held at Haridwar on Thursday January 28.

On Thursday January 28, Aaradhana Mahotsava in commemoration of Sri Sudhindrateertha Swamiji, who left for heavenly abode on January 16, was celebrated at Sri Vyasashrama, Haridwar. Religious procedures related thereto were performed in the precincts where the mortal remains of the Swamiji were buried, under the leadership and guidance of Sri Samyamindrateertha Swamiji. Programmes connected thereto which began at 5.30 am, went through the whole day.

Sri Samyamindrateertha will be guiding the GSB community henceforth, after becoming successor to the lineage of reverred and illustrious spiritual heads of Kashi Math, who have been held in high esteem for their knowledge, preaching, and spiritual achievements.

The decorated photograph of Sri Sudhindrateertha placed in a grand palanquin was taken around Sri Vyasa Mandir's outer precincts to the accompaniment of five different services like music, instrumental music, Bhajans etc. A large number of vocalists and scholars chanting Vedic hymns, Bhajan singers, players of instruments etc added an air of divinity to the ceremony. Over 3,000 people who thronged the venue were served with sumptuous food prepared to their taste by volunteers who have gone to Haridwar from the city and other parts.

In the evening, Sri Samyamindrateertha Swamiji was brought in a grand procession to the public meeting of GSB community, where he was offered ceremonial reception. The Math disciples raised slogans hailing the Swamiji, when he occupied the throne as the supreme head of Kashi Math as various procedures were performed and people offered Padapuja to him. After he delivered benedictory address to the devotees, assuring them to lead the community in the path shown by his predecessors, 'Patta Kanike' were offered by the followers of the Math, followed by acceptance of Phala Mantrakshathe.
