Mangaluru, Jan 30: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Janardhan Poojary on Saturday January 30 condemned the 'forced' transfer of Kudligi DySP Anupama Shenoy and demanded the resignation of state labour minister Parameshwara Naik who allegedly got her transferred for not waiting for him on phone call.
Addressing a press meet at the district Congress office, Poojary demanded the reinstatement of Anupama Shenoy as DySP of Kudligi and said, "Anupama was brought up in a poor family and she is one among the few sincere officers in the state. Even during her childhood her aim was to become a sincere officer. She is from Uchila in Udupi and studied in St Aloysius College. She was transferred as she did not listen to the minister.
"The minister also wanted the DySp to save one of his relatives in a murder case, but she did not bow to his pressure. She was against sand mafia too, hence, for all these reasons, she was transferred. The minister later said he had no role in the transfer, but in a meeting with his supporters he revealed that he had pressured the government to transfer her," he said.
Addressing himself to chief minister Siddaramaiah and home minister G Parameshwara, he said, "My question is to chief minister Siddarmaiah and home minister Parameshwara - is it a good action or attitude on your part? Don't you think it is a matter of shame to the government and to Congress party? You both do not have any allegations of corruption. It is your duty to take appropriate action against the minister. Is that person (Parameshwara Naik) good for the party or the cabinet - is he not a shame?
"In the illegal mining case against Reddy brothers, you (CM and home minister) had taken a padayatra to Ballari against the BJP. If tomorrow the BJP does the same thing against the current government, will you still be silent? Do you want Congress to die?" he questioned.
"The CM should provide a clean administration and thereby take action against the minister immediately. Congress is a people's party; because of one person, the party should not be harmed," he said.
On AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi's protest in Hyderabad over the death of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula, Poojary said, "What is wrong in Rahul joining a peaceful protest? When ABVP students protested, did it do any good or bring any laurel to BJP? Why has PM Modi not visited Vemula's house? Even Smriti Irani, Venkaiah Naidu and other BJP leaders have failed to visit his house. What type of administration is this?"
