Bhatkal man among three IS sympathisers deported from UAE, family defends

Daijiworld Media Network-New Delhi (RJP)

New Delhi, Jan 31: One of the three Indian sympathisers of ISIS deported from United Arab Emirates few days back is a person from Bhatkal, it is gathered.

Adnan Hussain, Mohammad Farhan and Sheikh Azhar Al Islam were deported and were detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) upon their arrival in the IGI airport on January 28 night in New Delhi. All three were said to be on a mission to carry out terror attack in India and some other countries, sources said. Previously NIA had announced that they belonged to Maharashtra, Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir. Now it has emerged that Adnan Hussain is from Bhatkal. His full name is Adnan Hussain Mohammed Hussain and he is known locally as Adnan Damudi.

Adnan Damudi (34) is a commerce graduate from Karnataka University in Dharwad. He worked as delivery coordinator at World Trade Centre in Dubai.

Adnan Damudi had influenced four persons to join IS. Two of them were arrested in Nagpur in December last year.

Sulthan Armar who died in Syria fighting for IS and Adnan Damudi were associated in terrorism related activities. Sulthan was formerly a leader of Indian Mujahideen. But later with Adnan Damudi he had joined Ansar-Ul-Tawhid and Al-Isabah and managed their websites. They were both active in recruiting youth for IS.

Adnan Damudi had managed in convincing 6 youth from Hyderabad and tried to send them to Syria through Turkey. But two of them backed out later after their parents found out about their intentions. Rest 4 disappeared at Karim Nagar in Telangana and contacted Damudi. Damudi had helped them to establish contact with Armar who was near Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

Armar was instrumental in sending them to West Bengal from where they would be sent outside India through Dhaka. But they were detained by police foiling their attempt to join IS. Police did not register any case against them. But again two of them tried to join IS and were caught on December 26 at Nagpur airport.

Meanwhile Adnan Damudi, Mohammad Farhan and Sheikh Azhar who were produced in court have been remanded to judicial custody for ten days.

"Arrested for Facebook comment"

Meanwhile, Adnan's parents and family members claimed that he was arrested for liking a Facebook post and posting a comment that was in support of ISIS.

His mother Gulfan Banu speaking to media persons said, "About six months ago, he had posted a comment in favour of ISIS in Facebook, and that is why he was arrested by the Dubai police. We had been told that if it was proved that the comment was by him, he would be deported, and that if he had any links with ISIS, he would be retained in Dubai for investigation. I came to know of his arrest by the NIA only through the media, and it has pained me a lot. My son has no links with ISIS or any such outfits. If he did, the Dubai police would not have deported him. There is an attempt to paint my son as a terrorist. But I have faith in our country's judiciary and I am hopeful that we will get justice. We will approach the court."

The parents are tryin to cash on the minority appeasement tactics of the state Govt. We all have to rise above our political party affiliations when it comes to threat to the nation. As it is Bhatkal is a very notorious place and in the world radar.

GCC countries including UAE had always maintained strict vigilance on fanaticism and extremism, let go terrorism. Obviously there's no place for sickulars in these countries. Their focus is on economic development. That’s why people of minority communities from all over the world are able to work and live peacefully.
