Karkala: Vehicle transporting cattle illegally tumbles - three cows dead

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Feb 1: After a pick-up truck loaded with nine heads of cattle went wayward and tumbled, three cows died on the spot. This incident occurred near Belanje Hanadi Cross near Hebri in the taluk on Saturday January 30.

A police team led by Hebri station house officer, Seetaram P, which came to know in advance about this illegal cattle transportation, was waiting for the vehicle on Saturday morning near Belanje. The driver of the pick-up truck, perhaps growing nervous at the sight of police personnel, began to drive the vehicle erratically. As a result, he lost control over the vehicle, after which the vehicle wobbled and jumped over the edge of the road and down the gorge.

The Hebri police have taken into possession the vehicle worth about Rs 4 lac and six cows valued at Rs 25,000. The cattle thieves managed to flee from the accident spot. Investigation is progressing.

The fact that incidents of cattle theft and transportation have been on an increase in the region in spite of measures like police vigil and rule regarding obtaining of panchayat letter permitting such transportation, have given rise to suspicion in the minds of the people. Some villagers from Andaru village say that street lights are switched off during specific periods at night to help these thieves. During the last some months, cows have been going missing from villages like Andaru, Kadtala, Muniyal, Mudradi, Belanje and nearby areas. Cows found by the roadside and also in some cattle sheds have been stolen at night, they claim.

Why people do such illegal activities instead of doing some descent job for their livelihood.

So many hard working Muslims survive and flourish in their business as scrap collectors (bottles, old papers old electrical components etc.) Robbing and transporting cattle may bring temporary good prospects. In the meantime brings bad name for the community. Let them follow the principles of the religion and what the preachers teach/guide them. It’s high time to realize and correct their wrong doings.

There is no proof to say that these animals are stolen animals.
It is easy for the Police to call this case as illegal cattle transport because they have made it so tough to get a permit to transport the cattle .
The fear created by the police,by raising a barricade at a place where there was never barricade present created fear in the mind of the driver of the truck.
So the reason for the accident is the presence of the police.
There should be laws to protect humans and then for the animals.
We are more interested to save the animals and less interested to save the humans.
The article clearly says that “the driver, perhaps growing nervous at the sight of police personnel, began to drive the vehicle erratically”.
All this started in recent years when people started hating the beef eaters. Simple is that.

The muslims have no brain at all.
They are into cow slaughtering business but most of the end users are other than muslims..Let the muslims take up alternative jobs for their living and let the beef eaters make their own arrangements to source their requirement ..may be through a co operative society or killing their own cattle...Muslim Mullas please start preaching at mosques and madrasas about the bad reputation muslims are getting due to beef business and cattle trade and theft....

    Dear Castelino,

Beef business has been declared illegal in India so people are resorting to theft...that's my concern...if its legal, then seller will have market for their cattle and buyer will have supply and there will be breeding of cattle for commercial gain...if you block it completely, old cattle are sold and bought illegally...Can you ask any member from your community to do it legally,,,even though they buy it from legal source, there are fringe elements to chase them and kill them.. so stop this business until divine help comes to the needy..Did you get my sane point my friend??

Mr. Shaha Nawaz, try to understand Mr. JOY CASTELINO, MOODUBELLE/DUBAI,

he is saying "no need to Muslims stop Beef business" ??

If Muslim stop Beef business how people like him who consumes Bef will get the meat?

This is the selfish mentality I don't like.

Putting Muslims in trouble , he want to enjoy the Beef.?

I suggest why can't you all Beef eaters, approach authorities court or to legalise Beef butchering?

Don't encourage to steal & Butcher illegally but fight for the right to consume Beef legally.

Nothing harm in that. No religion is looking after the old cattle. Why can't the people eat who need this meat. It is followed by ages.

How other non-vegetarians eat Mutton, Chicken & fish, similarly let them eat the meat of legally butchered cattle without disturbing other religion's beliefs.

Mr.Joy don't use others shoulder to shoot your enemies.

    Shanawaz
Please don't come to a conclusion that this is the act of Muslims. How do you know? Anyone from any community can do this to create nuisance in the society. In the above news, police declared that these thieves managed to escape even after the vehicle toppled down and interestingly police was chasing these goons. How come all of them escaped from the spot?
