Karkala, Feb 1: In a sad incident which occurred at Edu village in the taluk on Sunday January 31, a girl committed suicide by hanging herself. Her engagement had been held, and she was to tie the nuptial knot shortly.
Suchitra Hegde (26) from Nadave in Edu village chose to end her life in this fashion. Engagement function relating to her marriage had been organized about a month back. Reasons for this sudden turn of events are not yet known.
Family members of Suchitra have expressed shock, surprise, and suspicion about this suicide. The body has been sent to Manipal hospital for postmortem, and the family hopes that postmortem report would be able to throw more light on the incident.
