Mangaluru, Feb 1: Kudremukh Iron Ore Corporation Limited (KIOCL) will start mining in the State as the government has allotted 474 hectares land for it near Ballari. This information was revealed by Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava at a press here at Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) office on Monday, February 1.
Addressing the media persons Bawa said "KIOCL is one of the major companies in Karnataka. Because of shortage of iron ore, the company had planned to shift to some other state and this would have resulted in loss of jobs for about 2,000 employees. Employees and management of KIOCL had requested me to get the company allotted with mining land by the government. I had raised this issue in the Assembly and now chief minister has allotted 474 hectare land at Devadaari near Ballari."
"Until now KIOCL had to get iron ore from Odisha but now on they will get it from Ballari. This will reduce the production cost of the company and also help thousands of workers at KIOCL. I thank the chief minister and he has agreed to visit KIOCL during his next visit to Mangaluru. The government is committed in providing more land to KIOCL. I will try my best to play my role in this regard." Bava added.
