Bengaluru: PM Modi to address farmers' rally on Feb 27

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 2: BJP has decided to organize mega rallies of farmers titled 'Kissan Sammelan' under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in four states including Karnataka. The party wants to do away with the 'anti-farmer and pro-industrialists' tag Congress party has been trying to attach to it.

In Karnataka, Modi would be addressing a farmers' rally on February 27.

National general secretary of the party, Arun Singh, addressing a press conference held in Bhubaneswar on Monday February 1, informed that huge rallies of farmers would be organized at four places, and Modi will take part in them. "The first rally would be held at Bhopal on February 18, second on February 21 at Bargarh, Odisha, third on February 27 in Karnataka, and the last one on February 28 in Uttar Pradesh," he explained.

Singh said that Modi intends to discuss issues bothering agricultural operations with farmer leaders at these rallies, and try to understand the problems faced by them. He also will gather details of benefits farmers have reaped out of different schemes implemented by the central government, Singh stated.

Karnataka state BJP president and MP, Prahlad Joshi, has welcomed Modi's decision to organize a farmers rally in the state, at a time when suicides by farmers has hit the state hard. He said that the spot of the rally will be decided soon by the state unit of BJP.

Hardly done anything good to the farmers and farmers suicide on the increase.Except vote bank politics and misguiding the farmers,no other reason to address the proposed rally.

Instead of arguing in comments and politicising the issue, let’s wish and hope these rallies bear fruit, in the sense that they boost the poor farmers’ morale, encourage them to carry on with their hard work despite their hardships, let the promises be not fake, let the PM not deceive them and finally let there be a definite end to suicide as their last resort.

    Mr. Tauro,

Mr. Modi is India's PM, we all should be having a respectful feelings towards him. Well, I many times tried to maintain that but the moment he misuses his position and boasts asking the audience 'pichle sarkaar ne kiya ya meri sarkarne kiyaaa ??' I lose all the reverence towards him.

Once elected, he is the PM of nation, not a representative of BJP. Honestly, I salute MMS for that. True that he spoke less but whenever he did, he never exploited his authority.

this question is to lydia lobo,

i am just wondering, if not modi or BJP, who else would have been better in 2014?

why many intellectuals like teetsa setalvad, gouri lankesh, gireesh karnad, bakrabail suresh bhat ( you can consider all people with karnataka komusouharda vedike.. like organisations / award vapasi people..!!) are always biased???

what about ethnic cleansing of natives from kashmir valley?

why no-one is commentimg on isis or isis mentality or pakistan/isi sponsored brutalities in india?

if RSS/VHP/BD is responsible for all the problems of india as it is being displayed, why there is bombing / female's pathetic situation / etc ( whatever any civilised people dont want to happen!!) are daily happening in regein where not even single modi /BJP/RSS supporter is living?

who & what is abigger threat to india? modi or anyone who is commented by teetsa like people or isis mentality?

at least teetsa had a right to defend herself, what about entire middle east( what is the status of females in entire middle east?)

i agree that modi did deliver what he has promised.he will not able to do that. he will not win next election also.

but mulayam & co will win next elction due to anti-modi peoples & they will sell india to pakistan, then we all will realise what was the freedom we had.

it is just matter of time. demography is changing. i repeat demography is changing due to breeding like rabbits. this one issue will decide who will be MLA/MP/CM/PM....

DEMOGRAPHY - VOTE BANK - MAL/MP/CM/PM policies.... the nation.. if living ..we also..

it is vote bankthat is demography.. how many people are there in "particular caste"?

    thats all.

While at college 50 years back, it was taught that 70% of the people of India are engaged in agriculture.

Now it is around 60%, 18.5% of the GDP and 8.5% of the export.

Mr. Modi's Gujarathi vision of having some shining cities and highways to be introduced all over India, such as smart cities will be ignoring the source of earning for the vast majority of the people of India. Now the food import is increasing due to ignoring the agricultural sector along with bad weather. Indian prosperity can't be attained through high tech and smart city concentration, but go back to the basic roots.

Mr Mathew , please know that more & more people depending on agriculture is a trap. India cannot afford this. Service sector has shown lot of growth and generated employment. India should not be bread basket for other countries. Excessive agriculture produce on the same land especially the cereals reduces the fertility of land and increases the chemical & fertilizer content in soil.

So tell me madam now to whom we need to blame.

    Pam,

Its been noticed since centuries that one generation toils to give better days to the next. My parents and I have endured this and we have sailed through for a better today. I am given to believe that you too have experienced it, so are many of the readers here.

Now tell me, how come some sections of the nation are still poor ? Still illiterate ? Still addicted to tobacco, alcohol, gambling or prostitution ? And, foremost, no sufficient food but abundance in off-springs ? That is because they have no sense of responsibility, they feel the government me responsible to their well being. Until this mindset is changed, our country will remain as it is and the we the prospered ones will continue to pay taxes to uplift these people to no end.

Politicians (all, not only Congress) will hold the poor at high esteem when its election time and dump them once the polling is over. No denial that there have been a number of schemes to study, adapt a skill or invest but the success is in micro-percentage ! Period !

He has his Ministers and they have their subordinates to look after all these matters and report to them on daily or at least monthly or at least once a year about these farmers and if really Concerned to bring solace to the farmers in their distress.
Why all these sudden concern to personally go and find out the farmers problems? No faith in his Ministers\Govt. machinery?
States are asking Central funds to alleviate Farmers losses so that they do not take the ultimate step...But what Center is doing by delaying?
This is just an eye wash by Modi to try and get back his\BJP dwindling reputation built on false promises.
Now one more "Bhashana" and few more promises which will be never kept.
Farmers should ask him to find out the situations from his work force.

Dear Mr Pradeep, I never have heard Mr Modi promising to deposit Rs. 15 lakhs in every Indians Account. If you have any web link where he says exactly that he will deposit the money in every Indians Bank account may be shared. He said that the black money if brought to India and distributed, each Indian can benefit by Rs 15 lakh. In a layman’s language he quantified the amount of Black money. In an election time all parties will indulge in rhetoric. Did you point to Congressman that despite their sloganeering of Gharibi hatao, how many Indians have landed from below poverty line to above poverty line? That too rules India for so many years. What is important is to not allow the possibility running a parallel cash economy which is the root cause of generation of Black money. India has to gradually move to digital and plastic money. The benefits are many. The transaction costs will be very less. The counterfeiting of currency will not be possible. Terrorist funding will become very difficult. There will be better tax compliance because transactions will leave a trail. Mr Modi is slowly creating an infrastructure for moving in this direction. The banking for all is the step in this direction although it may not give immediate benefits.

Check the video properly what he meant about black money dont assume and comment like fool. he has told "IF" black money comes to India the amount would be unimaginable, so in laymans language he said IF distributed each person might get 15 lacs, that is the explanation and not promised.  You and your congi supporters are same as usual.

Raj, that IF.. had further extension too. Modi promised to bring in the black money within 100 days from the date of voting to power.

Do you think people of India are as short memoried as you and Modi are ?

Honestly, I eagerly waited to see Gandhi's name on the top of the list. What the citizens got is a few names not so far heard of at all and silly reasonings from DDCA-Chor Jootley !

    Rakesh,

You better leave behind your phobia for Congress and stop adopting the political party as lame excuse whenever you feel convenient.

Productive farmers did not lose anything no matter which government ruled. I am a farmer's daughter, who had EIGHT children. A farmer not a well off one, but one, whose harvest wasn't sufficient to feed his family. Many of us never studied beyond SSLC at our parents expense but went well beyond bachelor's Degree once we somehow managed to get employed.

One needs willpower, not a borrowed spinal cord to prosper. Look back at your childhood and think what you could buy for Rs. 100/- and what you can now. To calculate it roughly, this is the difference of the days Congress ruled and now !

Highly thought provoking ..., I know how hard a committed farmer works...,
In Bajpe/kinnigoli/kateel/belman/shankarpura and many more area, there are many such inspiring stories of hard working prosperous live examples(not stories)
