Beltangady: Knocked down by bike, woman succumbs to injuries

Beltangady, Feb 2: In an accident which occurred at Irvathurpadavu near Vamadapadavu on Sunday January 31, a woman pedestrian lost her life after a motor bike hit her.

The deceased has been identified as Ramakku (55), wife of the late Bhoja Poojary from Korantabettu near Punjalkatte in the taluk.

Ramakku had alighted from a bus on Sunday afternoon and was crossing the road from the rear side of the parked bus, when a motor bike which came from the opposite direction hit her. Ramakku fell down, and bled profusely due to injuries sustained during the fall.

She was admitted into a hospital in Mangaluru in unconscious state by an ambulance. But she failed to respond to treatments and breathed her last sometime later.

Relating to the incident, Rajesh, son of the deceased, filed a complaint against Anil from Irvathur Kalladka, the motor bike rider concerned, on Monday. Policemen, who have registered a case, are investigating.
