Udupi, Feb 3: Santosh, a resident of Hemmady in Kundapur taluk, died after a tipper truck hit the Maruti Omni van he was driving. His wife Asha and son Sudhakar suffered injuries. The accident occurred on Tuesday February 2 morning. Santosh, who was admitted to the hospital, died after 11 pm.
The accident happened near Highway Garage at Santhekatte near here, when Santosh was returning to his home with family after visiting temple in the town. After a tipper truck driven by Basavaraj in a reckless manner hit the Omni from the opposite direction, Santosh had suffered severe injuries to his head, legs, and waist region. Asha was injured in her head and legs. Sudhakar suffered bruises and internal pain.
A case about the accident was registered in traffic police station here. Policemen have begun investigation.
