Mangaluru, Feb 6: The two girl students of a PU college from the city, who had gone missing all of a sudden after college hours on February 1 have since been brought back and entrusted to the care of their parents.
Students of St Aloysius PU College here, Jacqueline (17) from Urwa Chilimbi in the city, and Smriti (17) from Suratkal, were brought to the city from Palakkad in Kerala on Friday February 5. Both were first PU students in commerce stream.
Tracing of the students, who had not been sighted since February 1 afternoon, had become a challenge for police, as they had not taken their cellphones with them. On February 4, they got information that the girl students were in a railway station in Kerala, after which a team headed by Bunder police inspector here,Shantaram, had left for Kerala. The police are unclear as to how and why the girls headed into Kerala.
In the meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada district union of Muslim organizations and Campus Front of India have accused the police of escorting Muhammed Nishar from Casba Bengre, who happens to be a student of a tutorial college, and torturing him in the name of interrogation.
