Bengaluru, Feb 6: Hundreds of Hindu religious heads, who came together at the indoor stadium at Koramangala here on Friday February 5, pledged to unite and fight against the incessant and meaningless attacks against Hindu Swamijis. They also expressed the resolve to fight for their own safety, as they felt they cannot always look towards others for protection.

The saints who had come together under the umbrella of Sant Sevak Samiti of which retired judge and former governor, Justice Rama Jois, is the honorary president, decided to build a state-wide organization for launching a campaign against the malicious onslaughts meant to malign and harass Hindu religious leaders.

In his address, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math said that credit goes to Hindu spiritual teachers for conserving righteousness, culture, Ramayan, Mahabharat, Bhagawat, Veda and others. He recalled that Rama, Krishna, Shivaji and other illustrious leaders had grown tremendously because of able guidance provided by Gurus.

"Kanchi Swamiji was kept inside jail for two months on the basis of false allegations. He had to fight for nine years to prove himself innocent. After allegations were levelled against him, Lokendra Vijaya Swamiji from Rajasthan committed suicide. Later, the court declared him not guilty. Most of such attacks are faced by Swamijis who are active in social service," he added. He mooted the idea of building an organization on the lines of some north India based outfits, for protection of Hindu saints from such malicious attacks. He said the saints were not brought together here to help him with the case filed against him, about which he said he is confident of coming out unscathed. He decried the intervention of the state government, which withdrew cases against people, against whom enough proof was available in fake CD case which had maligned him.

President of Sant Sevak Samiti, Suresh Shetty, said that further steps about protecting the religious leaders would be drawn up after consulting the spiritual leaders.

Thousands of Swamijis and religious leaders from various Maths from all over Karnataka were present.
