Kasargod: Silver, cash worth Rs 16 lac seized from govt bus; two arrested

Kasargod, Feb 7: Manjeshwar revenue department officials seized Rs 15 lac worth of silver and Rs 94,000 cash which was being transported illegally in a KSRTC bus on Saturday February 6 and arrested two people in this connection.

The arrested are Mahlinga (50) and Jayakumarv (32) both from Tamil Nadu.

The officials while inspecting vehicles at Manjeshwar check post on Saturday afternoon found the silver and cash in a bag that was kept hidden in the last seat of the bus.

The valuables were handed over to Manjeshwar police.

Further investigations are on.

    It is unbelievable. Rs 16 lac cash and silver was seized from a govt. bus. That too it was hidden at the back seat of the bus. I am sure they revenue dept. must have got some information.

    Naturally we need to retain/produce the purchase voucher.
    Ornaments worn may not be subjected to scrutiny but dangerous to wear and travel.
    In this incident, it clearly indicates that the ornaments are stolen or illegally acquired.

    @yousef Mangalore,When one carries so much valuables ,one should be able to the origin .when one bought it,also the cash payment or cheque receipt.without this one has less Chance to escape from Police.The legal buyer/seller cant recognize themselves is a clear case of theft or black Money .After all the fellow had a good amount of cash with him.second,mostly People dont Transport such a amount of valuables in a bus generally.Thats what I think.

    Looking at the ornaments….it’s clear that it is not stolen one!!!! May be illegal way of doing business mainly inherited by our Mangalore region since few of them still believe illegal is the best way of doing business!!!!
