Kundapur: In bid to overtake, bike rider gets crushed under lorry

Kundapur, Feb 7: A bike rider met with a gruesome death after a lorry moved over him near Kundapur government bus stand on NH 66 here on Sunday February 7.

The deceased has been identified as Utmesh Poojary (35) from Arulugudde in Koteshwar.

Utmesh was riding to Hemmady from Kundapur when the accident took place.

It is learnt that when he tried to overtake a bike near KSRTC bus stand in Kundapur, he saw a lorry coming from the opposite direction and at once veered to the right. In the process, he lost balance and fell on the road. Another lorry which was behind Utmesh ran over him, and though he was wearing helmet, he got crushed under the impact and died instantly.

Utmesh worked as a mason and was going to Hemmady on some work.

The body has been taken to Kundapur government hospital. Traffic police have registered a case.

    Do not blame the Lorry/brake etc. The incident/accident happened with a fraction of moment.
    While driving we need to control speed and not be in a hurry. In this accident he wanted escape a lorry coming from front.But killed by a lorry coming from behind. Destiny!
    His death is a terrible loss to dear and near ones.

    Heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family members.

    Anyway such incidents happening in Kundapur is quite common.

    God!!! put some sense into the heads of the two-wheeler riders.

    May they abide the traffic rules and avert accidents.

    After the helmet was made compulsory, I am amazed to see a line in every news about 2 wheeler accident!. Today also no exception!. The line is 'The rider was wearing helmet, but died/seriously injured in the accident'!!!.

    A very unfortunate incident in which Utmesh Poojary who was riding a bike was crushed under the wheels of a truck which was behind his bike. May his soul RIP and condolences to his bereaved family and loved ones.

    The lorry behind him was at fault... Why brakes are made for? At least use them when necessary. Was the lorry driver blind? Please arrest and jail him.
