Mangaluru, Feb 8: District legal service, Dakshina Kannada district, Mangaluru lawyers association, Managluru city and D K district police department and women and child welfare department, D K, Mangaluru jointly organised a talk on 'Awareness of breast cancer in view of world cancer day and information about 'Indian succession act'. The programme was inaugurated by Uma M G, district and session judge and the dignitaries by lighting the lamp.
Uma M G gave a bird’s eye view about the awareness programme as the first aim of the programme was to spread awareness on breast cancer, how medical fields have advanced and effective remedies to be followed. Speaking about the Hindu succession act, a woman is able to get equal rights in her husband’s and father’s property.
S P Chengappa, president of Managluru lawyers association recalling the quote of Aristotle said “For man, when perfected, is the best of animals, but, when separated from law and justice, he is the worst of all. Since armed injustice is the more dangerous, and he is equipped at birth with the arms of intelligence and with moral qualities which he may use for the worst ends”. Adding to it, he said there are 1,500 legal laws prescribed in our constitution and laws are needed from womb to tomb. We need to have a good understanding about Indian laws and if all the police and advocates work cooperately with each
other, we can make the world a better place.
Police commissioner M Chandra Shekhar spoke about how a police needs to take care of his health and maintain good health and fitness. Sr Clare A.C, Principal St Ann’s college of education in her message thanked the organisation for conducting such an insightful programme and added on saying that this awareness needs to be disseminated to the common man. Dr Venkatesh Sanjeev, breast cancer specialist delivered a talk on the awareness and prevention of breast cancer. Senior advocate M Udayananda spoke on the Indian succession act and the information on property rights. Member secretary, district legal service, Dakshina Kannada district, Mangaluru Ganesha B welcomed the gathering. DCP crime Dr M Sanjeev Patil proposed vote of thanks. Advocate Anitha Kini compered the programme. S P Dr Sharanappa, Deputy director women and child development department, joint director Sundar Poojary and ACP Bantwal Laxman were also present. A crowd of 200 people were present.
