Udupi, Feb 8: A three-year-old boy died after falling into a pond on Sunday February 7. The victim of this accident was Mrinal, son of Sushma, a resident of Korangrapady Kemthur here.

It is said that Sushma's mother had left home for the nearby family plantation at around 11.45 am to bring back the cattle left there to graze. The fact that Mrinal too was following her was not known to the woman, it is gathered. The boy soon fell into an open pond.

Although he was rescued and admitted into a hopsital, treatments failed to save him, policemen said.
