Udupi: Billava Community Leader Y Hirianna (83) Passes away

Udupi / Padubidri, Sep 14: Senior Billava community leader, businessman and district Congress vice president Y Hirianna (83) died of heart attack in a private hospital here on Thursday, September 13.

Hailing from an agricultural family, Hirianna was an active Congress worker and had close association with union minister Oscar Fernandes, former CM Veerappa Moily, Rajya Sabha member B Janardan Poojary, R L Jalappa and others, besides with the late Tonse Anant Pai, the late Muddu Suvarna the late Damodar Suvarna in the past.

He had served as Udupi taluk board member, president of Padubidri Cooperative Society, Padubidri gram panchayat member, vice president of DK district Backward and Minorities Federation and in many other organizations.

He is survived by two daughters including Sumalata, wife of All India Billava Union president Naveenchandra D Suvarna, and two sons.
