Mangaluru, Feb 11: 'Yuvalakshya-2016: A Confluence of Excellence', an inter-collegiate fest for the students of computer application and management was organized by the department of business administration of St Joseph Engineering College(SJEC) in the college premises here on Wednesday February 11.
Chief operating officer of Spearhead media and motivational speaker Brian Fernandes inaugurated the event.
In his inaugural address, Brian Fernandes said, "If you want to compete then compete with yourself because you will be the winner always and you will not have the fear of losing. Do not compete with others and do not worry about the competition. If you compete with yourself, you will get the best out of it.
"Each one of us is different, like the five fingers of the hand. Everyone of us has a few unique talents. You have to choose your own path as you are different. Nothing is easy in life. The more you fall and get up, the stronger and better you will become," he added.
Principal of of the College Dr Joseph Gonsalves said, "With each passing year, the number of participants from various colleges have increased, which indicates the popularity of this fest. This is a platform to showcase talents. Only when you accept the challenges in such competitions will you learn to face the challenges of life. Be a leader wherever you go."
The programme was presided over by director St Joseph's Engineering College Fr Joseph Lobo. "To achieve your goal you need to come out of your comfort zone. Working hard at your goal and coming out of your comfort zone will change the way you look at yourself," he advised.
"Life begins with choice and not by chance. If you go with your choice it will make a great difference in life. Chance is for people who compromise with life. Life is all about setting in the right direction. It needs reflection, guidence, and choice. I wish all you the very best," he added.
The dignitaries also unveiled 'Yuktha' and 'Tantra Kosha', the newsletters of MBA and MCA respectively.
Varsha Baliga welcomed the gathering while Johnson Mascarenhas thanked.
Assistant director of SJEC Fr Rohith D'Costa, dean of MBA Dr Prakash Pinto, HoD-incharge of MCA Prof Anushree Raj and others were present.
