Mangaluru, Feb 11: Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel unveiled the manifesto of BJP for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections here at BJP office on February 11.

Addressing media persons, Kateel said, "In the 3 years of Congress rule, many farmers have committed suicide. The chief minister who wears a wristwatch worth Rs 80 lac shows his administrative mindset. This government has not stood beside the farmer in court on the matter of kumki rights. Farmers are not provided support price for their crops. Farmers are angry with the state government and their curse will hit Congress this time. We are fighting this election based on the developmental work doen by the Yedyurappa government through different schemes like namma raste namma grama and our 5 year clean and clear rule in the panchayat. Since the time Congress government came to power, it has reduced the grants given to panchayats."

"At district level too Congress will fail as there have been 22 murders in one month. Double murder in jail shows the failure of the state government. Electricity shortage and no proper steps taken to curb the problem, arrogance in implementing Yettinahole project, delay in implementation of Kasturirangan report are some of the shortcomings of Congress. We will go to the people with a developmental attitude. We have been visiting villages and there has been a positive response from the people." Nalin added.

The manifesto includes points like construction of dams to increase ground water level, providing supportive price to farmers when price of crops decreases, fighting for Kumki rights and cashew farmers rights, implementation of central government's crop insurance scheme in taluk panchayat efficiently, fighting against any project which will affect land and water in the district, development of roads in rural areas, medical camps for school children in the villages and others.

Monappa Bhandary, former MLC, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Prathap Simha Nayak and others were present.

Does this Manifesto contain how these corrupt MP's will make big bucks by approving inappropriate projects like yethinahole? First give general public basic necessities guys. No proper roads, no electricity, no proper drainage, rubbish collection, and many more. What is the Manifesto all about?

    Do you read news papers?

Last year there were 840 farmer suicide cases registered in Karnataka, where as in BJP ruled Maharastra, there were 1450 farmers suicide cases registered(20 percent more against previous year)!

Few months back, Union Minister for Rural Development Chaudhary Birender Singh said "I wear a watch worth Rs 9 lakh and shoes worth Rs 45,000. Not only big industrialists, even farmers like me can wear (expensive clothes). What is wrong if Modiji wears a suit worth Rs 10 lakh?"!!
