Mangaluru, Feb 11: In a sad incident, a mother and son, residents of Maroor near Moodbidri, attempted suicide on Thursday February 11. While the mother died, the son has been admitted in Mangaluru private hospital.
The deceased is Yamuna Poojarthi (55). Her son Praveen alias Kariya (29) is in serious condition.
As per the details, screams were heard in the house of Yamuna on Thursday at about 2.30 pm. When the locals came to the house, they found the house locked from inside. When they peeped through the window they found both the mother and the son hanging, and the latter screaming. Praveen was rushed to Mangaluru immediately.
Praveen is working in a Mangaluru hotel. He had come home on leave a few days ago.
The reason for the suicide attempt by the duo is not yet known.
Moodbidri police have registered a case and are investigating.
