Bahrain: Nativity Feast Celebrations by Konkani Kutam

Bahrain, Sep 15: The Members of “Konkani Kutam” Bahrain & Karnataka Social Club celebrated the “Monti Fest” in traditional flair on 13th September 2007 at Karnataka Social Club premises.  This tradition has continued for the last 7 Years to reflect our culture, to depict our unity as one family which takes our emotional feelings back to our motherland.

The Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church Fr. Thomas Quadros & visiting Priest Fr. Valerian Menezes blessed the New Corn.  Fr. Thomas Quadros who spoke on the occasion highlighted the significance of “Monti Fest” which symbolizes Unity & Harmony. Fr. V.J. Menezes signified the need to promote Konkani language & culture and called on the children to speak in Konkani.

“Novem” was served to all who were present & the children demonstrated their discipline & devotion in admiration of Mother Mary by offering flowers with mellifluous hymn.

The local artists entertained the crowd with Dance, Singing & Comedy skits. Priya Mascarenhas & Nishel Gomes choreographed the dance.

Sumptuous traditional meal was served on banana leaves by “Chefs Corner”.
