Mangaluru, Feb 12: Dr T M A Pai Foundation has declared its Dr T M A Pai Best Konkani Book Award - 2014 to the book 'Venchik Aantarrashtriya Chalchitram: Niyall Ani Samiksha' authored by Yugank Naik. The award carries Rs. 25,000 in cash, citation and the award will be presented shortly in a special felicitation function. Dr. TMA Foundation confers best Konkani Book Award every year to a Konkani book. So far the foundation has presented 27 Best Konkani Book Awards which include the works of Ravindra Kelekar, Prakash Padgaonkar, Tanaji Halarnkar, Hema Naik, Paul Moras, Melvyn Rodrigues, Bhushan Bhave, Prakash Parienkar.
'Venchik Aantarrashtriya Chalchitram: Niyall Ani Samiksha' is the book published by Directorate of Official Language under the scheme of publishing manuscripts of research works on media and science. The book reviews the trends in world cinema. Year 2013 publication has a preface written by cinema maker Dharmanad Vernekar. The book reviews the world cinema by putting America, Europe, Middle-East & Africa, Asia & Asia-Pacific and Latin American Cinema in perspective.
Author Yugank Naik is a Research Scholar at Centre for Latin American Studies- Goa University, pursuing PhD in International Relations and World Cinema. Yugank Naik has also been awarded the DD Kosambi Junior Research Fellowship by Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, for the year 2015-2016. Yugank Naik has been also associated with several research projects like Mapping Mapusa Market and making glossaries for Central Institute of Indian Languages. Yugank Naik is also a visiting faculty to VM Salgaocar College of Law. Yugank Naik passed his BA in Political Science from Pune University. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communications, MA Degree in International Relations from Centre for Latin American Studies- Goa University and passed Film Appreciation Course from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. As an activist, Yugank Naik is the General Secretary of Goa Rakhann Manch, Executive Committee member of Konkani Bhasha Mandal and has been associated with the organization Goa Yuva Mahotsav and Youth Parliament. The declaration of the award was conveyed by the Treasurer of Dr TMA Pai Foundation T Ashok Pai by a letter on 1 February 2016.
