Mangalore: Unity within Devadiga Society need of the hour: Veerappa Moily

Mangalore, Sep 16: Unity and education is very important, if one’s community has to progress, declared M. Veerappa Moily, former chief minister here on Sunday, Sept 16.
He was delivering the keynote address at the inaugural ceremony of the Devadiga Community hall located at Mannagudde near Gandhi Nagar in the city.
With special reference to the significance of education in the community, he pointed out that India is developing at a rapid pace and soon it would be a developed country, in such a scenario, education should be the community’s top priority since according to him education opens the window to opportunities.
Keeping the interest and progress of Devadiga community in view, Moily advised his community “differences of opinion should be kept aside amongst us, we are capable of achieving things and we should always be aware of the reality. We should be broad minded and should expose ourselves to innovation. Only then can we truly enjoy the essence of life,” he informed wisely.
One of the chief guests Yogish Bhat, MLA of Mangalore, releasing the souvenir on the community “Yashassu”, pointed out that Mangalore had all the opportunities available to become a developed city. “It is high time we improved ourselves, being the citizens of Mangalore”, Bhat advised.
The other chief guest on the occasion BK Madur, chief general manager, Divan Housing Finance Corporation Limited (DHFCL), Mumbai, Babu Devadiga Amblamogaru, chief secretary, KV Devadiga, honorary president of construction committee of the hall spoke on the occasion.
MLA Ullal U T Khadar was present on the occasion while Dinesh Devadiga, president of the Devadiga Association welcomed the gathering.
