Bengaluru: Woman carrying 3.2 kg gold held

Bengaluru, Feb 15: A woman from Andhra Pradesh, who was trying to smuggle in three kg of gold from Dubai was arrested on Sunday February 14 by customs officials at Kempegowda International airport here.

The arrested lady has been identified as Kundur Thulasamma. Thulasamma, it is said, tried to escape from checking procedures by playing several gimmicks. At the end, the customs officials succeeded in finding out what she was up to, and taking her into custody along with gold. The lady has since been taken into custody by the Hyderabad customs officials for investigation.

Customs officials from Hyderabad and here had worked in tandem to arrest the lady after being tipped about her activity. 3.2 kg gold ornaments were brought by the woman. It is said that the lady opted for a wheelchair to exit the airport with the specific aim of diverting the attention of customs officials and going Scot-free.
