Udupi, Feb 15: In an incident which occurred at Hejamady near Padubidri on Sunday February 14 evening, a man was abducted. However, the police succeeded in hitting the trail of abductors and getting the man released.

Samshuddin (36) residing near North Sulthan Road in Hejamady was talking to some relatives who had visited him on Sunday, when five to six people who came in two Maruti Swift cars kidnapped him.

The neighbours who gathered there at the melee identified one of the kidnappers as Jamal. They immediately passed on this information to police.

Padubidri station house officer, Azmat Ali, immediately formed a team, and left for Soorinje after gathering details. The team found that Samshuddin had been confined in a house there, which was locked from outside. They got him released from there and brought back to Hejamady on the same night.

It is said that Samshuddin was abducted in connection with financial dispute. The abductors have gone underground, and policemen are confident of arresting them soon.
