Mangaluru, Feb 15: District in-charge minister and minister for forest and ecology, Ramanath Rai on Monday February 15 released the district Congress manifesto for the upcoming zilla panchayat (ZP) and taluk panchayat (TP) elections. While the first phase of the polling for ZP and TP elections in the state was held in 15 districts on February 13, the second phase will be held in rest of the state, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, on February 20.

Addressing the gathered, Rai said, "This manifesto is prepared by the district Congress as a combination of the state Congress manifesto and the requirements of the district. It is a pro-developmental manifesto. We have fulfilled about 80 percent of the promises we made during the Assembly elections. If we come to power in zilla and taluk panchayats, we will give more importance to the development of rural parts of the district.

"Even though BJP was in power in ZP and TP during the previous term, they still accuse Congress of neglecting the rural areas. There has been no development in the rural areas, and if at all there is any, it is because of the seven Congress MLAs in the district."

Speaking about the manifesto, he said, "The party promises to provide sites for the landless. We aim to introduce solar power in every household. Along with this, we also aim to make the district a kerosene-free by providing gas connections to every household. We are also working to eradicate the drinking water scarcity through Bahugrama drinking water project. We will also strive to promote rural games and provide job opportunities at the gram panchayat level through job fairs."

On the issue of Kumki rights he said, "BJP could have given the Kumki rights when it was in power for eight years. Now they are simply politicizing the issue to target the Siddharamiah government.

"I urge the people of the district to evaluate and compare the developmental works done by the BJP and the Congress and cast their votes," he added.

Former minister B A Moideen, MLC Ivan D'souza, district Congress interim president Ibrahim Kodijal, former mayors Shashidhara Hegde and K Ashraf, and AICC member PV Mohan were present.

    "Jossey Saldanha, Mumbai,

    Dear Jossey,

We visit India every year and spend 3 months & invest there, as per your statements, We have visited Gujarath & MP & lived there for a while, & of course Karnataka is our own state.

Gujarath, honestly has developed and improved a lot, than what it was many years ago, thanks especially to PM Mr. Modi, who did a great job, when he was the CM there, but still needs to improve, MP is not developed and only on paper, time to kick the current govt there and bring back some one else to do a better job. but far better than before.

Karnataka is concerned, it is a very rich state with all its resources, gold mines, copper mines, coal & iron ore, coffee estates, cardamom estate, pepper estate, sandalwood estates, great coast, with fisheries industries, lot of Industries, great IT hub, well educated & honest people, even British considered Karnataka (then Mysore province) a great place to live, whats the point, all politician looted the states, regardless of party, you think current govt led by Useless Siddu doing great job, no, by giving bhaya's you are not doing a great job, you are fooling people & making poor more poor.

In-stood of giving us stupid advice, why can't you pack your bags and settle down in Karnataka than giving foolish advice to us from Mumbai.

Don't teach us, we know the ground reality of DK & entire Karnataka.

    Cheers, have a nice day.

    Dear Mr. Rai,

Congress will be wiped out in DK & Udupi district in ZP/TP elections and in two years time in assembly elections, you don't believe wait, when votes are counted on Feb 23, you will get an answer.

No need of manifesto and promises, first try to fulfill all the promises your party made to DK public during 2013 assembly polls.

Treat honorable Mr. Janardhana Poojary with respect, why is he not invited for this meeting and many other meetings.
Enough is enough, DK congress leaders have got to have their limits.

    Congress sympathizer

Why senior congress leader Mr. Janardhan Poojary was not invited for this program ? These people will sidelined Mr. Poojary like BJP sidelined Dr. Subramanya Swamy by not alloting any Minister Post in their central cabinet. There is no future for Congress party in Indian Politics.

    SENDILKUMAR UDUPI,

Who sidelined who?Can I ask same Question ?Why 'Modern father' BJP LK Adwani was thrown to Garbage bucket?OUR BJP(B.J.Poojari)is state level leader but Advani is one who brought BJP to power be it from Rath yathre or Ram temple-Babri Masjid Movement!!!!
Janrdhan Poojari was not sidelined and he is still in active politics guiding party and it's functionaries.

I can give some result of Manifestos in Neermarga-Bondanthill area.
1.Mr M Bawa MLA should answer-How many Bore Wells are drilled and how many are working around Neermarga Bondanthill Area. Why the money is spent on Dead Wells.
2 Second question is why? 3 High Mast Light Poles are erected where not a dog moves after 10 pm. But 3000 Watts lights are burning between 7 pm to 6 am (about 11 hours) These lights are meant for Road Junctions and Play grounds.
But here One installed near Church, next one near Temple and third one is near Masjid. They wanted Votes from members of 3 Religious Communities.
3 Another Manifesto-One MLA spent close to 30 lakhs for the gate of Kadri Park. But same MLA did not had money to Paint the Road Hump near the Park nor to repair road leading to Park.
Another MLA was telling others how to be free of Illness with cleanliness. While His own Property was stinking with Sewer Water and Garbage.
Public should not believe this but Judge with record.
Fake Manifestos of Mr Rai are just fool-filling the Public.

Manifesto on how much money can be embezzled by these projects.
this has been going on for 60 yrs of congress power- still the same issues as 1947- rural development, poverty, kumki rights, roads , lights, loans to farmers( so they can later default and kill themselves) on and on and on ...

the richest Indians are the congress politicians and their chelas- Look at Mangalore and we know who they are- AND WE STILL SUPPORT THEM AND WE ARE OK WITH IT- CONGRESS SUPPORT STEMS FROM HERD MENTALITY
