Mangalore, Sep 17: Deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao has issued a notification banning the movement of vehicles on select roads in the city and suggesting alternative routes with effect from Monday September 17.

This is in view of four-lane concrete work being taken up by the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) between Jyothi Circle and Balmatta Circle from Monday.
 
The ban will be in force till the completion of the work.

As per the notification, movement of vehicles between Jyothi Circle and Balmatta Circle has been banned.

Other roads on which the vehicular traffic has been banned are: Arya Samaj Road from the city hospital to Balmatta Circle; heavy vehicles from Horticulture Department junction towards Balmatta Circle, and from lower Bendoorwell junction towards Balmatta Circle; all kinds of vehicles from Averi junction towards Jyothi Circle; heavy vehicles on Shanthi Church Road; and all kinds of vehicles from Kankanady to Pumpwell on old Kankanady Road.

New routes

The notification has said that buses arriving from B C Road and Talapady route to the city bus stand (State Bank of India Circle) should take the route from Pumpwell Circle via Old Kankanady Road, Kankanady junction, Phalnir Road, Unity hospital, Averi junction and Hampankatta Circle.

Buses coming from Nanthoor to the city bus stand should proceed via Mallikatta, Bunts Hostel Circle, part of Jyothi Circle and Hampankatta Circle.

There is no change in the route for buses plying from PVS Circle to the city bus stand.
Buses plying from Pumpwell Circle to PVS Circle should proceed via Karavali junction, Bendoorwell junction, St Agnes College Circle, Mallikatta and Bunts Hostel Circle.

Buses from city bus stand (from State Bank of India) to Pumpwell Circle should ply via part of Jyothi Circle, Bunts Hostel Circle, Mallikatta, St. Agnes College Circle, Bendoorwell junction and Karavali junction.

Light motor vehicles from Horticulture Department junction and Bendorwell junction towards city bus stand should ply via Shanti Church Road to Falnir Road and divert towards the city bus stand.
