Konkani academy to distribute ID cards to artistes, to release 8 books

Mangaluru, Feb 19: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy will distribute identity cards to artistes and writers on Saturday, February 20 at Don Bosco hall at 6 pm. On the same occasion, it will release 8 Konkani books and stage a drama titled ‘Professor Yama’, press release from academy says.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura the president of Dakshina Kannada district Sahitya parishad will be the chief guest. U S Sripathi, the general manager from Insurance MIMG, Manipal group will be the guest of honour. Roy Castelino the president of Konkani Sahitya Academy will preside over. Dolla Mangaluru is the convenor of the programme.

The books to be released on the occasion are, ‘Gony Sandun Apli Many’ (on folk songs) by Joachim Pereira (revised version), ‘Karvalho’ (translated novel) by Lilly Miranda, ‘Vasarinthu Hanv’ ( Cook book) by Geetha C Kini, ‘Amashechi Adhli Raath ‘ (short stories) by Ron Michael Angelore, ‘Bhadyachi Baayl’ ( Short dramas) by CGS Taccode, ‘Mhaka Jiyenvk Soda’ (novel) by Ron Roche Cascia, Vidhooshak (satire) by Richie John Pais , and ‘Kudmyali Gumtam ani Thoniya Podam’ (research-revised) by Gopala Gowda.

‘Professor Yama’ a Konkani drama written by N B Kamath and directed by Santosh Shenoy will be staged after the distribution of identity cards to the Konkani artists and writers and release of books.
