Beltangady, Feb 24: A book vendor lost his life in an accident which occurred at Kashibettu near Ujire in the taluk on Tuesday February 23. The victim was Laxman (23), who belonged to Haveri district.
Laxman was riding the motor bike towards Beltangady from Ujire with his friend, Shiva (21) from Gadag in the pillion, when he lost control over the two-wheeler at the steep uphill road near Kashibettu. His vehicle hit an auto rickshaw coming from opposite direction. Laxman sustained grave injuries in the accident, and breathed his last on the spot.
Shiva, who was seriously injured in his legs, was shifted to a hospital. A case about the accident was registered in the police station here.
