Mangaluru, Feb 24: The prestigious two-day national level engineering fest of St Joseph's Engineering College (SJEC), 'Tiara-2016' was inaugurated at the main auditorium of the college on Wednesday, February 24.

Karnataka regional academic relationship manager of Tata Consultancy Services, Srinivasa Ramanujam inaugurated the fest by unveiling the LED lights arranged in the form of words. In his inaugural address Ramanujam said, "We must take failures in a positive spirit and we must learn lessons from them. Mistakes are common and they pave the way for success. Youth normally tend to crave for success and wish for it to come instantly. They must keep in mind that rapid success does not last long. You should do your duty and over a period of time success will definitely greet you. Whatever you do must be done with passion and patience. As engineers you must have fresh and unique ideas. Along with technical aspects you must also cultivate leadership and management qualities in order to become a successful person in the world."

The director of the college, Fr Joseph J Lobo in his presidential note said, "As students you come across plenty of opportunities in life. You must make use of opportunities to showcase your talents and this will result in building confidence. It is this confidence that will drive you towards success in life. Success cannot be measured nor defined. It depends on you to achieve it. I wish good luck to all the participants. Have a great Tiara."

Speaking on the occasion Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal of SJEC said, "Tiara is a platform for young minds to perform. It is also an opportunity to apply what is learnt. Application of knowledge is the pinnacle of learning. This will lead to new contributions to society and this is the way new scientists are born."
