Fisherman dies of accidental injury during boat maintenance

Mangaluru, Feb 26: Harish (30), a native of Andhra Pradesh, was killed when working in a fishing boat that was anchored at the Bunder port here on Thursday February 25. He was hit by a thick rope which suddenly snapped, badly injuring him in the bargain.

The deceased used to stay inside the fishing boat. He was cleaning the boat and attending to other maintenance work within the boat, when he tried to tether the boat with the help of a strong, thick rope. The rope suddenly snapped, and hit his chest, hands, and other parts of his body at high speed.

Seriously injured Harish was then rushed to hospital. Efforts made by doctors to save him failed. Thereafter, his body was shifted to the mortuary of Wenlock government hospital.

A case of unnatural death stands registered in Pandeshwar police station about this incident.
