Kuwait: Mangalore Friends win coveted KCWA Cricket trophy

Kuwait, Feb 28: Mangalore Friends won the coveted KCWA Cricket trophy by defeating Scorpions in the final on Thursday February 25. The event was organized by KCWA at TACK Cricket Grounds, Sulaibikhat.

A total of ten teams participated in the 8-over cricket tournament which was held exclusively for KCWA members.

The tournament began at 7:30 am with managing committee welcoming the teams and guests. In the first semi-final, Mangalore Friends defeated Sharq United and in the second semi-final Scorpions beat Udupi Friends.

In the presentation ceremony, president of KCWA, Albert Praveen Menezes welcomed the ex-presidents of KCWA Pascal Pinto, Rudy D’Souza and Anil Fernandes. He thanked Melwin Serrao for providing the ground and others who helped in organizing the tournament. Sports Secretary Lloyd D’Souza handled the presentation ceremony.

The best bowler award was given to Ravin Menezes. Royce Jaison Fernandes was adjusted the best batsman and Jason D’Souza became man of the match and series.

Deepak Andrade, Rudy D’Souza, Stephen Machado and Manohar Prabhu compered and also presented the live commentary. Sunil John David and Wilfred Lobo were the scorers. Alban D’Souza captured the event with his skills in photography. Anand D’Souza provided the sound system. Food was arranged by M&M Caterers and Confectionery. Salvadore D’Souza and Arun Pinto arranged the logistics at the venue.

Lloyd D’Souza, Alex Rego and Naveen Mascarenhas coordinated the event successfully with the support of KCWA managing committee & Ex-committee members.
