Beltangady: Murder of man by furious mob - three accused arrested

Beltangady, Feb 29: The police have succeeded in arresting three of the accused relating to the murder of M J Peter (38), at Irtadka in Thotatthady village in the taluk on February 15.

M A Thomas (54) from Thotatthady village, Saju Thomas (38) from Neriya and Antony M J (54) also from Neriya, are the arrested persons.

All the three were produced in the court, whereupon they were remanded to two weeks of judicial custody. The police personnel are on the lookout for the other accused.

Peter had been attacked on the evening of February 15 by an irate mob with lethal weapons. He was shifted to a hospital in serious condition but he could not be saved. However, it was said that before his death, he had revealed names of the some members of the mob which attacked him. Later, there were claims which said that Peter was not killed by public because he was a trouble maker, but by certain relatives relating to property dispute.

A special team had been formed to nab the culprits in the case. The operation is being conducted under the directions of additional district superintendent of police, Vincent Shantakumar, Bantwal deputy superintendent of police, Bhaskar Rai N G, Beltangady police circle inspector, B R Lingappa, police sub-inspector, Sandesh P G, and Dharmasthala police sub-inspector, Sudhakar Tonse.

    Finally, some relief! Glad that the police succeeded to arrest at least a few. However, the question remains: Can the Police succeed in getting the real culprits of the murder and do some justice to the bereaved family?

    recent these types of crimes coz of boast in real estate business!!. time to control this uncivilized business, where no qualification, no measurement, no production of any type of good thing to the society...only gambling industries is growing!!! at the cost of lower middle class and poor's life...any government control on this business income where margin is more than 500% on investment and people are bidding forget other natural business resource...HIGH TIME TO THINK TO CURBE THIS BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT TO FIX/LIMIT PROPERTY PER PERSON AND IN EXCESS 100% TAX ON INCOME AND SHUD NOT BE BLACK N WHILE...ITS NOT EASY SINCE TOP PEOPLE ARE INVOLVED IN THIS BUSINESS AND SOME SACRIFIES SURE WILL SAVE THE ECONOMY OTHERWISE GREAT RISK NEAR FUTURE!!

    It is too early to come to the conclusion. It could possible, they really involved in the murder, however, it should also be noted that, there were other people. The statement of M.J. Peter before death not necessarily be true as he may also want to take revenge against these people. If deliberate act then, certainly, they should be punished.

    About the statement of their family saying property issue, if so, why didn't they try to correct his conduct. Today, it is not at all difficult to pronounce anything and accuse anyone. Can't you see our state drama and current drama in the central.
