Kundapur, Feb 29: A woman was allegedly murdered by her husband's brother and his wife at Gangolli here on Sunday February 28. The incident came to light on Monday February 29.

Jyothi Kharvi

Accused Guru Raghavendra and Divya

The deceased has been identified as Jyothi Kharvi (26), wife of Vijay Kharvi, a resident of Kalavinabagilu, Uppinakudru.

Jyothi was allegedly murdered by her brother-in-law Guru Raghavendra (26) and his wife Divya (19).

Sources said on Sunday afternoon, the trio had a fight over a family dispute during which Guru and his wife reportedly kicked Jyothi in the stomach. The same evening, she developed severe pain in the stomach and was admitted to Manipal hospital. She failed to respond to treatment and breathed her last at around 3.30 am on Monday.

The doctor who examined Jyothi informed the police, after which Guru and Divya were taken for questioning and then arrested.

Jyothi's husband Vijay is a fisherman. He was out on a fishing expedition at the time of the incident and is yet to return.

DySP Manjunath Shetty, SI Subbanna and other police personnel visited the spot.

Gangolli police have registered a case.

Murder may be unintentional, but nobody has the right to attack physically. They should be booked for murder and punished.
