Mangaluru, Mar 1: A sand-laden tipper reportedly plying to Bengaluru toppled near Kavoor on the night of Monday February 29.

No injury was reported.

As per eyewitnesses, the tipper, carrying wet sand, was being driven in a rash manner. The eyewitnesses said that the tipper narrowly missed getting in contact with electric wires, and if it had, the accident would have been a major one.

The owner of the tipper made arrangements to clear the sand and lift the vehicle before more mediapersons could arrive at the spot. Two cranes were also brought from Yeyyadi industrial area without any delay.

The driver of the tipper fled soon after the accident.

It is noteworthy that the truck with Bengaluru registration was overloaded and the sand was not covered with the tarpaulin as per the instructions of the district administration. Also, nowhere was it mentioned on the vehicle that it was for sand transportation.
