Blasphemous remarks - Congress files complaint against MP Anant Kumar Hegde

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Mar 1: On behalf of Dakshina Kannada district unit of youth Congress, a complaint was filed in the town police station here on Monday February 29 against Uttara Kannada MP, Anant Kumar Hegde. The party has accused the MP of making blasphemous and insulting remarks against Islam and Muslims.

It is said that at a press conference held at Sirsi on Sunday, Hegde had belittled Islam and Muslims.

Youth Congress district vice president, Luqman Bantwal, said in his complaint that the sentiments of Muslim community have been badly hurt by the statement made by the MP. In his complaint, Luqman urged the police to book Hegde under sections 153 a, 295 a and 502 (2) of Indian Penal Code.

Panemangalore block Congress president, Abbas Ali, municipal councillor, Sadashiva Bangera, nominated member of council, Siddique Guddeangady, president of district SC ST wing of Congress party, Padmanabha Naringana, and several others were present at the time of handing over the above complaint.

Dakshina Kannada Kazi, Twaka Ahmed Musliyar also asked the state government to take action against Hegde for his anti-Islam rhetoric at a press conference at Sirsi, which he said, tends to damage social fabric. Muslim Central Committee president, Alhaj K S Muhammed Masood, SSF state president and state Wakf Board member,N K Muhammed Shaffi Saadi, PFI state secretary, Shaffi Bellare, and severalothers toohave demanded stringent action against Hegde for his anti-Islam statements.

In the meanwhile, state health minister, U T Khader, met home miister, Dr G Parameshwar, urging him to file suo moto case against Hegde for his shocking and irresponsible statements against Islam, and take stringent legal measures against the MP. He reasoned that Hegde would have uttered these words to get publicity, but as a MP he said Hegde should have thought about the repercussions of such public utterances.

about three and half years ago in Belthangadi on Independence day a well known Criminal Lawyer of Mangalore committed Sedition by insulting National Flag, Insulting the Father of the Nation Gandhiji, and insulting the Independence day by calling at as black day.
But even though police complaint is filed against the Lawyer with Video proof still police have not filed Charge sheet.

After independence, no one until now has been convicted under Sedition law. So charging someone with sedition is just plain ridiculous. Sedition law itself has no place in democracy. That law is something like a dictator would use to target his enemies with.

First clarify what do you mean by wired? In India how many wired religions are there? Are you talking about some African or Latin American cult or any other mysterious practices followed by different people at different places on this planet? Your question in itself is wired.

How do you differentiate between a cult and religion?. If tomorrow somebody starts a new religion saying that God has entered me and told me about some ethics which people should henceforth be followed by mankind, how do you determine he is faking? would you call it fake if that new religion has commonly accepted ethics in it copied and pasted from religions which previously existed?

    Falvian,

You cant cherry pick some aspects of any religion that you feel you need to respect. Now i wont differentiate between some bigger religion and any thousands of cult... cause both of them are more or less same... if you take it from the perspective of its followers.

Now since past few years there as been some attack for religious practices of certain community. Where are all the people then who want to respect others belief? Eg: when animal sacrifice were mentioned in the media i dont remember anybody commenting in favour of these rituals. why?

Do you know why? because nobody respects other religion in a truest sense. Because most( if not all )religions are incompatible. That is the fact.

Our Prime Minister is visiting many Islamic country in the world. In Dubai ruler gave him warm welcome. PM will be visiting Saudi Arabia in the month of April, Saudi is the country where Islam is started, Prophet Mohammed is born. How can he show the face to Saudi authorities, when his own man talking against Islam ???
Mr. Hegde is unnecessarily creating enmity among the Indians .
Let the state BJP should take the action against MP first. Because the PM is already warned all his party men no for hate speeches.

This blasphemy business is an offence under the law in Pakistan. There, innocent and poor Christians are accused and caught hold of and sentenced to life and sometimes to death. The law does not exist in India, fortunately. There are other laws that are designed to prevent hatred between communities. In the current case, it is the member of parliament's personal opinion and not a matter on which the Mohammadan community should be bothered.
