Mangaluru, Mar 1: Sumell, the Singing Club of Mandd Sobhann had organised the ‘No’vyo Voviyo’ Training Workshop on Sunday, February. 28 at Kalaangann.

The training was held from 10 am to 4 pm with the intention of teaching the retuned and reinvented voviyos to those interested, so that they might be able to sing them at the ‘Roce’ ceremonies in their surroundings. 52 members had participated in this training workshop.

The workshop was inaugurated by Elias Fernandes from Four Winds Mass Communication. Sumell Director Eric Ozario, Secretary Irine Rebello, Treasurer Kavitha George and Mandd Sobhann President Louis J Pinto were present on stage.

The participants were briefed about the history of voviyos, the occasions on which they are sung, the sequence of singing various voviyos and also as to why the new voviyos were composed. Eric Ozario conducted the workshop. The participants were given a copy of the ‘No’vyo Voviyo’ CD and the lyrics, and were taught the traditional as well as the new voviyos.
