Doha Motors clinch 11th IBQ Masters cricket trophy with ease

Media Release

Doha, Mar 1: In the eleventh IBQ Masters Cricket Tournament 2016, Doha Motors clinched their maiden championship by defeating Engineering Supplies by eight wickets.

A one minute silence was observed before the start of the game as a mark of respect for the late Mohammed Nawas who passed away in Sri Lanka. Mohammed Nawas was the head of umpiring panel of the Qatar Cricket Association.

After winning the toss, Engineering Supplies elected to bat. However, an excellent bowling display by Doha Motors restricted them to 50 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their first 10 overs. The team was all out for 88 runs in 19.5 overs.

Ansar batted well to score 21 runs which included a six. He was caught by Anuraj off Nilesh. Sanaf remained not out on 18 runs with a boundary. Namsheed was the only other batsman who reached the double figures with 10 runs.

Munib claimed three wickets while Nilesh and Shameem took two wickets each. Jaber, Siva and Akram claimed a wicket each.

In reply, Doha Motors batsmen batted cautiously, most of them retiring after the mandatory 12 balls. Shameem 21 runs not out with two sixes, Nilesh 17 runs not out with a boundary and Munib 16 runs not out with a boundary ensured that their team reached the target with losing just two wickets in 15 overs.

Sajeesh and Shajeer claimed a wicket each. Munib from Doha Motors was declared man of the match in final.

Firoz of ACC was declared as the best batsman of the tournament. Rajneesh of Engineering supplies became the best bowler of the tournament. Imran of Hanan was named the best all-rounder of the tournament. Abrar of ACC became the best keeper of the event.
