Kasargod, Mar 2: After a truck carrying a load of laterite stone fell into the roadside gorge at Majibail near Manjeshwar on Tuesday March 1, its driver lost his life. The truck cleaner, who suffered grievous injuries, stands admitted into a hospital for treatment. The truck, it is said, was carrying laterite stones to Hosangady from Meeyapadavu when this accident occurred.

The accident occurred when the truck was moving through the road bend at Pajingaru near Majibail on Tuesday morning. Truck driver, identified as 38-year-old Prakash, son of the late Krishna, resident of Pulikuthi near Manglpady here, succumbed to injuries sustained in this accident. Cleaner of the truck, Shariff, stands admitted into a hospital at Deralakatte with critical injuries.

It is said that the driver lost control over the vehicle when driving through Pajingaru, after which the truck tumbled into 60 feet deep gorge. Both the driver and cleaner had got stuck under the truck. Locals rushed to their help, helped them out of the situation, and made arrangements to take them to Mangaluru for treatment. But Prakash breathed his last on the way.

Postmortem of the mortal remains of Prakash was conducted at the government hospital, Mangalpady. Prakash is survived by mother, wife, a son, a daughter, and siblings.
