Beltangady, Mar 3: In connection with the killing of a man named Peter by a furious mob at Irtadka in Thotatthady in the taluk on February 15 this year, four more accused surrendered in the police station here on Wednesday March 2, taking the total number of arrests to seven.
The four accused arrested persons from Thotatthady, identified as Aneesh Philip, O D Tommy, M T Francis and M T Thomas, were produced in the court here on Wednesday March 2. They have been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

The police, who have been working hard to book the other people involved in this murder, have been searching for a number of absconding accused. Peter, who allegedly had stolen areca nut, was thrashed by a mob after which he had succumbed to his injuries. Accused persons are now surrendering before the police one by one because of pressure from police and local people. There are allegations that property dispute had also played a role in this murder.
On the basis of pieces of video and audio recordings, they could lay their hands on people who are related to the case. The police have identified more than ten persons as main accused. The police claim that four to five more persons, who had played major role in the said act, have gone missing. They are confident of arresting these persons within a couple of days. The locals are of the opinion that some of the absconding persons had played major role in this incident, and therefore, want the police to make all out efforts to nab them.
