Puttur: Price crash - rubber cultivator commits suicide

Puttur, Mar 4: Distressed by the plummeting of price of rubber, a rubber farmer from near Nelyady committed suicide on Thursday March 3 morning. The victim has been identified as V S Joy alias Patros (60) from Paddadka House in Nelyady. He consumed poison to end his life.

Joy was cultivating rubber in his two-acre plot. A few days back, during his visit to his daughter's home, he had expressed deep anguish at the low price rubber cultivated by him commands in the market. On this basis, Joy's relatives as well as police believe that he ended life because of concern over low price of rubber.

He had returned home after visiting daughter about a week back. He lived alone in his home. His son-in-law, Biju K J, filed complaint in Uppinangady police station, informing that his father-in-law had ended life on Wednesday night.
