Bengaluru, Mar 9: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, Dr G Parameshwar, rushed to New Delhi on Tuesday March 8 night. His visit has given rise to certain speculations.

Party sources claim that the purpose of his visit is to discuss about the stand to be taken by the party in respect of 11 districts where none of the parties have a majority in zilla and taluk panchayats. The other point expected to be taken up is the proposed session of All India Congress Committee in the city during May next.

There is also an expectation that changing the KPCC president might crop up during the discussions. Reports claim that the chief minister (CM) and those loyal to him have been keen on changing the guard. Within the party, several groups have been formed, which have been seeking this post to their leaders.

The main tussle is between S R Patil, who has the backing of the CM, and M B Patil, who also has an impressive backing. Dinesh Gundu Rao, who is likely to lose his cabinet berth during reshuffle, has also been making efforts to wrest this post. The other interested candidates are minister, D K Shivakumar, and Muddu Hanume Gowda, sources claim.
